Standing Strong for a Nation

On July 4th, 1776, 56 men, known as the Continental Congress, adopted a document that would change the course of world history. They had worked tirelessly, both in prayer and debate, on the future of the 13 small colonies. The decision to separate from England was one from which there would be no turning back. A Declaration of Independence had been drafted, and these brave men signed it, aware that their lives would never be the same. They pledged everything, even their very lives, in the belief that they were securing freedom for all future generations.

On August 2nd, after making some revisions, they signed the official parchment. Each man, filled with determination, knew that regardless of the outcome, they were declaring that breaking away to form a new nation was both right and just. Comprising mostly farmers with a small continental army and limited munitions, they were preparing to face the formidable military of one of the largest nations at the time. They were saying no to bondage, abuse, and tyranny, and charting a course toward freedom for all who would follow.

In his farewell address, George Washington stated, “Of all the dispositions and habits that lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.”

A few lines later, he cautions against the idea that morality can exist without religion. For our nation to succeed, we need good, godly men—men of morals, conviction, vision, and honesty. This leadership must be accompanied by a servant’s heart. Those who fear God understand that they will one day be held accountable for their actions.

For 250 years, our nation has endured many challenges to its freedoms and strength. Faith in the God of the Bible is a vital pillar that we must continue to uphold. Without this faith, America risks falling. A true republic can only stand on the firm foundation of the Word of God; otherwise, we would be building our house on sand. Given that the Bible is the cornerstone of our nation, it is imperative for the church to step up and fulfill its role in America.

Christian Nationalism

Today, a term has been coined by the left: “Christian Nationalism.” It is often used to describe a negative, extremist attitude within the Christian community, which seeks to exert control over the nation. However, I believe it is exactly what America needs. At its core, Christian Nationalism represents Christians who care deeply about their country. It embodies the idea of Christians praying for the nation and becoming actively involved in promoting holiness in our policies, schools, Congress, courts, and the presidency. It is exactly what America needs today.

So much of our great nation has been hijacked by the radical left, who have pushed (above so many thighs), the vile perversions that are straight from hell. They are working diligently to enslave our children and young people with lifestyles that will destroy them. As America turns 250 years old, the very heart and soul of this nation,

along with the prayerful vision of our founders, is under direct assault.

God called this nation to be a city on a hill for all nations—a beacon of moral and spiritual light. We are meant to be a revelation of freedom amidst the darkness of chaos and sin that grips much of the world.

The Black-Robed Regiment

Two hundred and fifty years ago, courageous pastors known as “The Black-Robed Regiment” stood in pulpits across the thirteen colonies and preached about the true meaning of freedom. From the sacred desks that God entrusted to them, they urged believers to rise against the abuse and tyranny that were oppressing the colonies. Sermon after sermon inspired men to stand firm in their faith and to pray and act in the best interest of the people. The freedoms of religion and other fundamental rights were under attack, but the majority answered the call. Freedom was ultimately achieved, and a great nation was born.

However, it is important to remember that true freedom comes at a cost.

Countless soldiers have sacrificed their lives in service to our nation. True freedoms will always face challenges, threats, and attacks. Today, we are witnessing one of the most significant assaults on the very foundations of our country, specifically targeting the Bible and the Christian faith.

Government Comes from God

In Romans 13:1-2, Paul writes, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and God appoints the authorities that exist. Therefore, whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.”

According to this scripture, the right to govern comes from God. This authority was not granted to man by other men; it was given to man by God. If God established the framework for government, then He must have a standard by which He approves of governance. Our founders looked to the Word of God for the guiding principles of government. Several key principles are essential for a nation led by God. For a nation to be prosperous and blessed, it must adhere to these principles.

Principle One: Seek God for Direction

Exodus 19:3-7 states, “And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, ‘Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the Lord commanded him.”

The success of a nation must start with a man going to God for direction to lead or establish it. Moses saw the people delivered from Egypt, and now he needed to see a people of slavery transformed into a nation of success. He sought God for the next direction. For a nation to thrive, its people must also be great. True greatness can only be achieved when the people are called by God, connected to Him through righteous principles, and submitted to His will under His mighty hand.

Principle Two: Establish Righteous Standards

Deuteronomy 4:1 states, “Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving you.”

The Ten Commandments, as outlined in Deuteronomy chapter 5, provide a foundational framework for our laws. To thrive as a nation, we must adhere to biblical laws and principles. The Ten Commandments establish the importance of recognizing one God as central to our nation, as well as the necessity for civil order. They declare that moral conduct in marriage and respect for parents are essential for family prosperity. The family serves as the cornerstone of society; if the family unit fails, society and, ultimately, the nation, will also decline.

Building on this, Psalm 145:4 states that one generation must declare the wonderful works of God to the next. We are held accountable by the Word for the next generations.

Deuteronomy 6:1-3 states; “”Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you—’a land flowing with milk and honey.’”

The success of every nation depends on the values and insight passed down to the next generation. Our children and grandchildren are essential for the longevity of our nation. The struggle for the heart and soul of our children is one of the most important challenges of this century. As the left seeks to influence them, we, as parents and leaders, must recognize that the future of our nation lies with the younger generation. Are we ready to fight for our children? Abraham Lincoln once stated, “The philosophy of the school room in one generation will become the philosophy of government in the next.” As our children flourish, so will our nation.

Are we willing to fight for their souls? Our praise in the end is them. They are our future blessing and our God-given responsibility. For this to happen and to keep America strong, there is one crucial element that must be engaged above all others. This element must have its voice heard, much like the famous “shot heard around the world.” It must take its God-given place among all nations, and that is the church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Church Must Rise

Jesus said in Matthew 16:18“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

The success of a nation is rooted in its people of faith. Jesus said He would build His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. However, He will use us, the church, to advance His kingdom and combat the enemies that oppose it. We have been equipped with everything we need to bind and loose. He has given us His Word, along with great and precious promises (2 Peter 1:4) and the tremendous power of prayer. As we engage in shaping our nation’s future as responsible citizens, we also wield the weapon of prayer to fight against all spiritual wickedness that threatens it.

1 Timothy 2:1-7 states, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.”

Our greatest responsibility lies in our engagement. Are we a church that acknowledges the needs and challenges facing our faith, our nation, our values, and our children, or do we choose to remain complacent with our eyes and ears shut? I believe we do not. Together, as a people of prayer, we have the authority to petition heaven on behalf of our nation. We have the power to bind what needs to be bound and to loosen what needs to be loosed.

1 John 4:4 states, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Believers, remember that 250 years ago, it was outnumbered men of faith that engaged the nation of England. They witnessed mountains moved, storms calmed, and an enemy much larger than themselves defeated and driven back. Armed with the mandate of the Word in their spirits, they fought with unwavering faith in the God of the Bible and demonstrated steadfastness in the face of overwhelming opposition. Because of this, they emerged victorious.

We have everything we need to stand before God on behalf of our nation and our children. It is our responsibility to echo the call of those men and women who sacrificed everything to pass this nation on to us.

Let us take our stand, unashamed and resolute. Our God will fight for us!
