Should Christians Vote?

We are coming into the most vital season for our nation. This election year is the most critical election of our time. The future of our children and our freedom, now more than ever, has been placed into the hands of voters across America.

In this blog, I want you to recognize the importance of Christians not only voting but also voting Godliness and not politics into all offices, from the president on down. The Bible and history are our defenses to why Christians must vote in every election—the main thing to remember when voting is not politics but policy. The policy affects people, and people are the nation. Believers, America is standing in the balance between total moral failure and revival. Your vote in this election could be the difference between the success or failure of our future.

The radical left has made their agenda very clear. Unfettered abortion, full recognition of the extreme LGBQ+ community in every classroom, with policies being enacted to punish all dissent. Our police are being hamstrung, demonized, and defunded to critical levels while extremist groups are being allowed to run, rule, and terrorize whole communities and cities.

Our military resolve has been weakened to such a dangerous level that hostile nations are poising themselves for invasions into neighboring countries without any fear of rebuke or retaliation.

Our borders have been left wide open for any criminal, terrorist, or dissident to gain full access to our country. They have the potential to upset our economy, change the political landscape, as well as the increased criminal element that has already been made evident, and open the door for more anti-God and anti-American policies to be enacted.

Our economy is being shipwrecked in favor of radical green policies that will leave us weakened at all levels and trillions of dollars in debt. Add to this the fact that our energy sectors are being wholly depleted, forcing us to rely on rogue nations for all our energy needs. America needs a people of faith, courage, and boldness to stand up and vote the calling and purpose of our founding fathers back into office.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, men of true valor and faith came together to establish a constitution that allowed free, moral people to self-govern according to biblical principles. Our declaration and constitution (as the founders declared) would only be effective for a God-fearing people. The Founders were very specific: they did not want any separation of religious values and principles from public life because they believed that religious principles were the source of too many societal benefits.

They believed that the blessings from heaven were directly related to a people who stood in repentance when evil came into our land and that prayers according to that stance were desperately needed to combat evil. In Genesis 9:6, we see the beginning of the right to govern. “If a man sheds blood (This would be in anger), his blood would be shed.”

We find the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:1-17. The Ten Commandments should be the foundation for all governments. These commands assured God’s continued blessing on the nation of Israel and continue to ensure the same blessing on any country that embraces them. These commandments were the backbone and foundation our founders used to draft our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. The founders established our school systems with the understanding that every territory that wanted to become a state must teach religion, morality, and knowledge in every classroom. In other words, the Bible was to be a book used in the education system to keep Godly morality in the presence of our children. Today, we see the absolute opposite. The Bible is removed, the Ten Commandments have been declared un-seeable by the students, and the vile agendas of the left have replaced the teaching of the word of God.

Our founders did not believe in the separation of Church and state as some have erroneously declared but believed that faith was to be the foundation of everyone elected to office.

Pulpits across America are responsible for the moral direction of this nation moving in the God-ordained direction. Romans 13:1-3 states that government is from God, and we are to respect and submit to the governing authority. This is not a license for the government to do whatever it wants. This scripture explicitly declares that the government must submit to God’s authority, word, and principles.

For Joshua, as a leader of the nation of Israel, Joshua 1:8 states, “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

Deuteronomy 17:18-19 states, “Also it shall be when the king who sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he is to write for himself a copy of the book of the law and it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to fear the Lord his God and be careful to observe all the words.”

Since government is from God, we as believers have the right to hold the government to the word that gives them the right to govern and to the principles of that word. We are both Christians and citizens. As citizens, we have the right and responsibility to vote. Remember, the radical left will vote, illegals are allowed to vote, “dead people” are allowed to vote, and in many cases, people are allowed to vote multiple times.

If we, as believers, don’t take responsibility, then we have failed as the watchmen on the walls of this nation. Faith without works is dead, and we are responsible as Christians and citizens to let our voices be heard; if we neglect them, it becomes a sin. We, the people, are the government, and if we, the people, don’t take our place, then the results are on our heads for what follows.

“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.'” Ezekiel 33:6

Believers, it is our responsibility to take the action to defend this nation that God has entrusted us with. If we don’t vote FOR God in this nation, then the left will continue to vote God OUT and, eventually, you and I out of this nation. Take your place with confidence, take your place with responsibility, and take your place with the attitude of it being part of your calling to call this nation back to God.

I have included a voter’s guide for the presidential election attached to this writing. This voter guide is from the Illinois Family Institute organization, which I have been a Board Member of since 2005. Please take a few moments to review it before casting your vote in this presidential election.
