What is the best way to show your love?
We often hear the words “I love you,” but how many believers take the time to say “I love you” to God?
The old saying, “Actions speak louder than words,” holds a lot of truth. In any relationship, our expressions of love are accompanied by actions and responsibilities that demonstrate their authenticity. God’s love for us was made clear through His actions—He so loved the world that He gave His only Son. This act of love shows us just how deeply He cares for us.
In this blog, we will highlight five remarkable ways that God has acted and continues to act so that we can stand firm in our faith.
1. The Great Deliverance of Calvary
At Calvary, Jesus became our substitute for sin and sickness, as described in Isaiah 53:4-6: “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes, we are healed.”
This extraordinary act of love, as stated in Colossians 1:13, “has freed us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” He accomplished this so that we may live in the fullness of God’s wholeness. From this foundation, we find faith and confidence to move forward, knowing that we are forgiven. This understanding opens our hearts to receive all that God has in store for us.
2. Jesus Remains Our High Priest and Intercessor for Complete Salvation.
Jesus remains steadfast as our High Priest and intercessor for our complete salvation. God’s love is not a one-time event; it is an ongoing action. Not only did Jesus die for us, but in Ephesians 1:19-22, we learn that God raised and seated Jesus in a position far above every principality and power. Jesus has been given as the head over all things to the church. He is actively working on our behalf to build His church in such a way that, according to Matthew 16:18, “…the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Hell itself cannot stop what God has initiated through Christ.
Hebrews 7:24-25 states, “But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore, He is also able to save to the utmost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Jesus is our ever-present High Priest, possessing an unchanging position on our behalf. From this constant state of activity as our intercessor, He declares our complete victory until we see Him face to face. Hallelujah!
3. Jesus is Ever Present With Us and Holds All Authority.
Matthew 28:18 and 20 states, “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth… And lo, I am with you always, even to the ends of the earth.” His love is demonstrated constantly, as He will never leave us or forsake us. This love reveals the strength of His might, as He possesses all authority to act on that love. Having all authority means that nothing can stop or hinder His active love for us. What great peace we have in His continued, overcoming presence.
4. He Has Provided Everything We Need to Fulfill Our Calling.
From His position, His love continues to move. Ephesians 1:3 states, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”
Additionally, 2 Peter 1:3 tells us, “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.” In His continuous love, Jesus has provided us with everything we need to fulfill the purpose for which He has called us. In Him, we lack no good thing. Every gifting, every anointing, and every promise is available to us for the callings God has given us.
He has given us the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Promise to empower our actions. The Holy Spirit abides with us forever, bringing all the promises and provisions of God into our lives with authority. However, with this great promise comes our responsibility to demonstrate our love for Him through our actions.
In Acts 1:8, Jesus states, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The outpouring of the Holy Spirit means that God’s love is now continuously at work within us. With His presence in our lives, God sustains us and provides everything we need to fulfill the purposes of His love.
Alongside the power of the Holy Spirit comes the responsibility to act on that love. God’s love calls us to take action and advance His kingdom in the lives of others. It speaks of the spiritual conflict for the souls of humanity against the powers of darkness. Through His love, we are transformed into both members of His body and soldiers who are advancing His kingdom.
As part of this divine army, we are called to allow God to work through us so that others may experience the love and victory He offers. With this understanding, we, as believers, must embrace our responsibilities and demonstrate, through our actions, the love we have for Christ.
Our Place For Action
-
Walk Covered in the Armor of God to Advance His Kingdom.
Ephesians 6:11-12 states, “Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Our first action is to engage in the battle we have already won through the love of God, demonstrated at the cross of Calvary. We have been given the whole armor of God to stand firm, withstand, and fight. As soldiers for Christ, we are equipped with everything we need to take our place in this fight.
-
Walk in Love Towards One Another with Fervency.
Romans 12:10-11 states, “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.”
This scripture speaks for itself. Clothed in the armor of God, we stand empowered by His love. It is our responsibility to let that love flow through us passionately toward our fellow believers. This work serves as a conviction to prevent the devil from sowing division among us. If love is absent, we lose our testimony as followers of Christ.
-
Love Compels Us to Testify.
Mark 16:15 tells us, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel.”
We are called to be witnesses for Jesus in the various arenas of our lives. Our lives should be the greatest testament to the victory of Jesus over hell, death, and the grave.
2 Corinthians 5:14 states, “For the love of God compels us, because we judge this: that if One died for all, then all died.”
Our actions testify to this truth. Every soul needs to hear this message, and we are the voice through which they can receive it.
-
We Are All Called to be Active Equippers.
Matthew 28:19 states, “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.”
Each of us is called to participate in making disciples. Ephesians 4:11-12 explains, “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God.”
As Christians, we each carry the responsibility to replicate Christ in us into the lives of others. Our lives, actions, faith, and testimonies should always be available to help transform someone into the image of Christ that dwells within us. You and I have been equipped to equip someone else; someone has done that for us.
Believers, considering all that Christ has done and continues to do for us from His throne of glory, let us live out the testimony of His goodness. We must recognize that God’s actions toward us compel us to take action. Let us take up our cross and, being clothed in His might, extend the work of God from our local streets to the nations of the world. We are blessed with everything we need, and with His mighty power at work in us, we can live as the overcomers He has declared us to be.
God Bless,
