Clothed to Win

“No weapon formed against you will prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn.”  Isaiah 54:17 hands us one of the greatest scriptures to declare that we can win any battle set against us. As Christians, to know that the word gives us this victory can strengthen every part of our resolve as we go forward in our faith walk. In this blog, let us look briefly at the armor of God so we can know that we are called to win, both as individuals and also as the body of Christ.

(1) Put on Christ

Romans 13:12 states, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore, let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” In verse 14, Paul states, “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh.”

The center of our victory is in these verses. Knowing the season that we are living in puts a demand on us, as believers, to make sure we have a  covering for all that comes against us and to have the ability to move forward with the kingdom of God. When we clothe ourselves with Christ, we are putting on the armor of God.  Jesus, all that He is, is the embodiment of all the armor that belongs to us. When we start our day, it is Christ that we must have as the covering over every part of our being, which is the sum of all that we are and all that we wear. It is from here that we can break things down as to each part of the armor.

(2) Be Strong in your Position

Ephesians 6:10 states, “Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.”  Our position and knowledge in the authority and power of all that Jesus possesses are first and foremost. First, we are to be strengthened with might by our position in Christ. This is our being “Seated in heavenly places in Christ.”  From this place, we can demonstrate the power of that position. The power of His might is the demonstration of that position. It is the explosive might of the Holy Spirit that is operating all the authority of that position. The gifts and anointings that belong to us, as well as the power to confront all that hell throws at us, are put forth from His presence. We have to be positioned and empowered to use effectively the armor that has been given us. A soldier has to be backed by the nation and the weaponry to be effective in his armor.

(3) Clothe Yourself

In verses 11-12, Paul writes, “Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Knowing that our enemy is out of the spirit realm and fashioned from that position, we must fight him clothed with the weaponry designed to fight back in that realm. All the armor of God is designed to be complete clothing; we lack nothing that is needed to fight back. Every part of the armor is designed to cover you in every area that hell will attack you. We can use any one piece or all in your defense, advance, and proclamation of the victory that is ours. Verse 13 states, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”  This verse guarantees our victory. It also states that it will take all the armor given to us to win the fight and for us to be found standing when the fight is over.

(4) Know All the Armor

Every part of the armor is designed to cover and empower every part of our spiritual being. Clothed in the righteousness of God, we have our position, which is held in place by the full knowledge of the truth that is in Christ. This allows us to have a message-filled walk, and the message is that through Jesus Christ, we can now have peace with God. This message is accompanied and proven by the power of God that demonstrates the message that we preach. Signs, wonders, and miracles. The sick are healed, the oppressed are set free, and the demonically bound are loosed. The message of peace is a message of deliverance out of the kingdom of darkness and a translation into the kingdom of light. We clothe all of this armor with the faith that believes in every promise and allows us to move every mountain standing in our way. The shield of faith allows us to stand firm in every battle knowing that God has a promise in which to stand. If the devil can take your faith, he will take your walk. This is why we stand firm in all that God has given us. The helmet of salvation is having the mindset of Christ as He is seated in the heavenly places. It always reminds us of our position of authority as we are seated with Him. The sword is always the word, but it is the word activated. It is not just having a Bible, but it is speaking the word and every promise from the Bible against all the attacks of the devil. It is using the word that we possess.  Finally, without a genuine prayer life, your armor will eventually be useless. We are called to a diligent relationship with our heavenly Father. We must hold fast to that at all times with all prayers and supplication for ourselves and all believers.

As we go forward, let us always remember that we have a genuine enemy who is always looking to take a believer down.  Know also that God has provided everything we need and weaponry that no part of hell can defeat.  We are victorious as long as we stand fast in all He is and clothed in all He has.
