One Accord: A Power Key

Jesus stood facing the Pharisees as they charged Him with casting out a devil by the devil himself. Jesus had healed a blind and mute man who had been bound by hell itself. Jesus’s response hands us a powerful key that we can possess to confront and overcome the assaults that hell can bring against our lives. Jesus responded with a principle that shows how the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light operate. In Matt. 12:25, Jesus stated, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city divided against itself will not stand.”

If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? We see how Jesus stated the principle that each kingdom operates in one accord within itself. This leads us to the next statement that shows us how much more powerful the one accord kingdom of God is over the kingdom of Satan. In Matthew 12:28, Jesus stated, “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.” In Luke 11:20, Jesus strengthened this statement when He said, “But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.”  In these scriptures, Jesus showed how powerful the kingdom of God really is. In the next verse, He stated that His kingdom has the power to bind the strong man and then plunder his house.

As we talk about the one accord attitude, we see how Jesus showed the power of His kingdom and what it can do. Let’s look at a few scriptures that show us our responsibility to walk in one accord in our heart, our attitude, and with His kingdom.

(1) Be Single-Minded

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:5-8) The key to one accord victory is to have a single mindset in one accord with the kingdom of God. The best way to have that is to know what God’s Word says. When we know that, we can then ask with an attitude of faith. “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15)

 (2) Be Single-Minded With Others

In 1 Corinthians 1:10, Paul wrote, “Now I plead with you brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and the same judgment.” Paul had told them how they came behind in no gift, and they were enriched in all utterance and knowledge. This was the mark of a unified church, the platform for the ministry, and the power of the kingdom of God to operate in their midst. One accord in thought, doctrine, and attitude would bring the demonstration. If the devil could do one thing against the church, it would be to divide it. For if he can do that over the church, or even your thinking, he would pull you away from that which could destroy his tactics and kingdom most. A one accord spirit is the greatest weapon against Satan’s kingdom.

(3) One Accord in the Press

The church was birthed in a one accord attitude in the upper room (Acts 2:1-2). This placed them in the position where the Holy Spirit could descend and baptize them in power. Then with one heart, they roared forward and there was a great harvest of over three thousand souls won into the kingdom (Acts 2:40). It didn’t stop there. They continued to train and raise the church with a one accord attitude and the Lord was able to add to their numbers daily as He willed (Acts 2:42-47). In chapter 3, Peter and John with a one accord attitude spoke with power, and a man lame from his mother’s womb was healed instantly. In chapter 4, after having been arrested because of their message, they stayed together in a one accord mindset and confronted the Sanhedrin in such a display of one heart, led by the Spirit of God, that the assembly had to admit that they had been with Jesus (Acts 4:13). Together they refused to compromise, and then going back to their company, they explained all that the High Priest had threatened against them. All this brought them to make the most important decision: to remain steadfast immovable in the faith, in the face of potential persecution.

In Acts 4:24-30, we see the result of being in one accord with the kingdom of God. “So when they heard that, they raised their voices in one accord said; Why did the nations rage, and the people plot vain things…” With these words, the disciples chose to stand together with the Word of God. They didn’t quote their fears; they quoted their faith in the Word of God, and with one accord, they asked God to stretch His hand out to heal and for signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” The response from heaven was a release of faith and great power more than they had yet experienced. The finger of God was about to do phenomenal exploits and undo the kingdom of darkness off of the multitudes of people.

Church, as we stand together with one heart, one mind, and in one accord with the Word and the kingdom of God, we will begin to see heaven come down in a way we have never seen before. The finger of God will prove that the whole host of hell is no match, and as Jesus said, “I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” Great blessing to all of you as we stand together in one accord.

Blessings,
