The powerful purpose of God is to cause us to stand complete before Him on that day after having been fashioned into the image of His Son, whole and perfected as the adopted we are to become. This purpose is the working force of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the calling of the church. In this blog, we want to look at three areas of operation of the Holy Spirit to bring us to the place of that perfection.
(1) Reconciled
In Col. 1:19-20, Paul writes, “For it pleased the Father that in Him (Christ) all the fullness should dwell, and by Him (Christ) to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.” The most powerful part is the fact that God through His Son went all the way to restore us to a place of working peace. Reconciled means to bring back to a place of fellowship and position that allows us to be in right standing with God so that all that He is can now be applied to our lives. In Romans 5:10, the Bible says, “For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” We haven’t just been saved from something, but we have been saved INTO something. The Resurrection life of Jesus is now where we are positioned in. This allows the life of God now to transform us into all that God has called us to be. Through reconciliation, we now are justified and standing with the peace of God as our rulership. We now have access by faith into all the grace of God that belongs to us.
(2) Revived
The purpose of reconciliation is to bring us to the place where we can be transformed. Every purpose of God is to keep bringing us toward and into the perfect and perfected place of God. Romans 8:26 states, “Likewise the Holy Spirit also helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought….” The Holy Spirit, working with the perfect will of the Father, goes to war to revive and rebuild us into the image that God has destined for us. Vs 29-30 states, “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” The Holy Spirit is working the perfect will of God into our lives to revive and recreate us. In vs 30, Paul writes, “Moreover, who He predestined, these He also called; whom He called He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.” The completed work of the Holy Spirit is to bring us from being predestined to glorified. God has reconciled us; we have been spiritually raised from the dead. Now, by the Holy Spirit, we are being revived.
(3) Supplied
Ephesians 1:3 states, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” With the goal, from the foundations of the world to be predestined to adoption to stand before God on that day holy and without blame, God has supplied us with everything that we need to fulfill that task. God saw all things complete in your and my life long before He created us. From that place, He has made sure that we lack no good thing to fulfill all that He has destined us to become. In 2 Peter 1:4, the word says, “by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” There is no lack in God toward us to accomplish all that He has planned for us. He sees us whole and complete standing before Him. Because of His great love for us, He has made sure that through Jesus Christ we have in our possession everything that we could ever need to become all that He has designed us to be. We lack no good thing, and with this promise, we can trust the fact that God has supplied more than enough to finish the race and finish it with great joy.
Believers, the Bible is a book of great promises, covenants, and provisions. Heaven had a plan for us, and that is to succeed. The Holy Spirit is right with us to accomplish all that God has designed for us, and we have been supplied with everything that we need to complete all that God has called us to be. So, let’s run our race knowing that the victory is already ours. We have the sure word in our reconciliation. And the promise in Philippians 1:6, “He who has begun a good work in you, will complete it till the day of Jesus Christ.”
