In recent days, we have begun to see a tragedy of untold proportion take place in the country of Afghanistan. As Taliban forces rapidly sweep in and take control of the country and the capital Kabul, tens of thousands of Afghan and American citizens are attempting to flee the country. As the desperation grows, there is a huge threat to Christians in the country. A recent post shows that Christians have to hide in their houses because the Taliban have tweeted that they know where they are, and they’re coming for them. As believers, we are put in a place to stand in the gap for these believers and to pray for a hedge of protection around them.
Persecution is real, and ethnic cleansing, as well as religious cleansing, is a horror that so many countries have suffered from. There is great hatred for Christianity in the world. These so-called peaceful religions are fathered from hell itself. Satan despises all things Christ. Every false religion that he has created is aimed at taking Christianity down. Some of these by great violence and hatred. This puts us, as the church, on alert as we see persecution rise in the nations. This move of the Taliban will embolden the hatred against America and faith in Christ Jesus. As they see the absolute humiliation of this nation, terrorist organizations all over the world will be signaled that they can begin to move on any nation, country, people, and faith that in any way opposes them.
For the sake of these believers and the millions of innocent people that are in the way of this sudden advance, we, as believers, and churches must begin to intercede for them with the passion that we can only get from the Holy Spirit. Pastors all over the third world countries must be on high spiritual alert at this time. We, as the church, must take this as the gates of hell attempting to prevail against the church. The word tells us in Matthew 16:18-19, “…I will build my church, and the gates of hell WILL NOT prevail against it, and I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Isaiah 54:17 says, “No weapon formed against you will prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you will condemn.” Deut. 32:30 states, “How can one put a thousand to flight, and two put ten thousand to flight unless their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had surrendered them.”
We have been given the sure word of God and priceless precious promises. It’s time to stand on these promises that we possess through Jesus Christ and speak forth the kingdom of God. It is up to us to put all the promises into action. WE can pray the word of God over these people, and stand firm covered in the armor of God on the promises to allow the Holy Spirit to fight on behalf of the saints. WE don’t have to stand by and say how sad. WE are warriors in the Spirit and are called to push back the forces of hell and occupy until the Lord Jesus comes. WE are the stopgap to all that Satan is attempting to do, and it’s time for all of hell, and all the foolish enemies of Christ to see a supernatural pushback by heaven itself. WE are not done, and WE don’t surrender.
This is a serious situation, but not one that is too big for our God to oppose. WE stand as the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, and hell and all its religions must know that they don’t sovereignly rule the nations. There is a greater kingdom in their midst, and that kingdom is the kingdom of God, and it is present in every God-hungry believer.
Church, I urge us to not shrink back at this time. I challenge us to stand strong in our faith and let the power of God reveal the glory that is found in the face of Jesus Christ. It’s time for a great revival and a harvest of souls for the kingdom of God, and this just might be that time. Romans 8:20 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond all that we can ask or think according to the power that works in us.” Romans 8:28 states, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” We have all of heaven on our side, Church, so let’s take up the weapons of our warfare and put on the whole armor of God as we lack no good thing in all the promises of God, and let’s take our place. Desperate and scared believers are looking to us, so let’s not fail them. We can do this thing in Jesus’ name.
Blessings,
Pastor Richard Giovannetti
