Mountain Moving Faith
The victory of the church is in the faith confession that we possess. Our authority comes from the strength of the knowledge of the word that we have, and the faith relationship that we stand in. Jesus spent His earthly ministry casting out devils, healing the sick, raising the dead, opening blind eyes, calming storms, and restoring cripples to wholeness. His entire ministry was connected to His relationship with His Father as He exercised the kingdom of God by the Holy Spirit. We, as believers, are called to stand in Jesus’s stead here on earth. We are called to demonstrate His kingdom as we declare victory over Satan’s. In this blog, I want to bring us from seed faith to mountain moving faith.
[1] Seed Faith
To go anywhere as a believer, we must have faith that God can and will fulfill His word. We know according to Rom 10:17, that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. With this as a starting principal, we must become students of the word. 2 Cor. 1:20 states, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen…” To know the promises is to know your Bible. This can only happen by a daily ingestion of the word. In Joshua 1:8, God said, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your MOUTH, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Jesus told his disciples in Mat. 17:20, “…if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” The potential of the word is according to the faith that we possess. Getting the word in you is the beginning. This is where mustard seed faith begins.
[2] Watering the Word
God told Joshua to not only meditate on the word (which establishes it in your spirit), but it was to be what controlled his speech. The confession of the word and the promises that you have allows the word that is in you to grow. Our staying steadfast in our confession is what brings the word to a place where the word that is in you begins to grow to a level of faith that can confront the circumstances that you are facing. The confession of your faith is vital to the word growing inside your spirit man. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:13, “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believe and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak.” Romans 10:8 states, “…The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach”). Revelation 12:11 states, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and the word of their testimony…” As Christians, our victory is directly connected to our confession. As we speak the word outwardly, we allow the seed of the word that is in us to be watered by our very confession.
[3] Don’t let go
James 4:7 states, “…submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” This is a warfare attitude. So often, as believers, we think that by simply shouting at the devil he’s going to run. The truth is that sometimes we need to stand our ground believing what we have been confessing in order to bring such a faith level that the devil can’t see any doubt in us, and, at that moment, he is totally defeated. The reason that we put on the whole armor of God, in Ephesians chapter 6, is so that we are in the place to stand our ground, and having done all to be found standing. Your faith walk is a warfare walk. It is one that needs a steadfast conviction on the word and the promises that we possess. Heb. 10:35-36 states, “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have a need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.”
In Mark 4:26-27, Jesus speaks about the parable of how the kingdom of God is like a farmer sowing seed into the ground and allowing it day and night to grow until it becomes fully ripened for the harvest. At that time it is now a useful seed. By the farmer’s patient endurance and trust in the seed, he now has his harvest. We stand in the same way. Faith grows as we stand patiently and water the seed we have sown. In the same chapter, verse 30-32, Jesus goes on how the kingdom of God starts off as small as a mustard seed, and how big it can get. Our patience with the word allows our whole man to be transformed as our minds are changed. When our mind is transformed, so is our speech. As our faith speech grows, so does the kingdom’s effectiveness in our lives. Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart (of unbelief) brings forth evil. For out of the ABUNDANCE of the heart the mouth speaks.”
Mountain moving faith is faith that starts out believing that “…He is, and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him” (Heb. 11:6). When we choose to believe what God says, then we chase the word and the promises that He gave us. We do this because we believe that God is always true to His word. We then water that word by finding every scripture that agrees with that promise, and without stepping back, we stand on that promise and confess that promise until a wave of faith rises up in our soul. When that happens, we have the faith that is now big enough to move every mountain that is standing in our way.
